Colonial Lodge

Lovely place to stay for a little getaway. Beautiful spot right on the lake with a coffee trailer right outside. Friendly service as well.
Our room was tidy and comfortable. Spa bath was amazing.

Stayed here for three nights December 2022. The place is very clean and comfortable and met all our needs and fairly priced . The staff there are ultra amazing and super helpful especially Anthony the owner and manager he personally made sure that we were comfortable all the time. He was so kind, helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience in Taupo. Not only did he look after us but was extremely hospitable to our family who stopped over for two nights to have dinner with us. Anthony we can’t thank you enough and as long as you are there then the colonial is our go to every time we visit Taupo.

Rooms were dirty and not properly checked or cleaned. There were items left under beds from previous tennants, food scraps in draws, while there was scrubbing brushes and drying racks there was no dishwashing liquid.
Staff were unproffesional with their interactions and dress.
Location is near the edge of town so too far to walk to shops, food and activities, parking is minimal and tight.
Price is the equivalent of the near by Hilton, but does not come with daily room cleaning.

This is our 3rd stay at Colonial Lodge and we are very happy with our visits.
It is clean and pleasantly decorated good location and good value for Taupo. The owners are extremely helpful and lovely to their quests. We will stay again.
