Base Backpackers Wanaka

Comfy beds, convenient plugs and light with each bed. Kitchen was nice and clean with staff re-cleaning it several times a day, in fact I often saw staff going though the hostel all through the day cleaning everywhere! Reception had plenty of space to chill and also a nice TV room with lots of DVDs to choose from! Overall a really nice stay, great value for money!

Mint bar was lots of fun with different events and games every night.
The crew behind the bar are the coolest people and made the nights special.
It is a very big hostel and lots of people staying there.
The hostel was clean and looked after what made it comfortable to stay at.

My partner and I came to stay for three nights and had the most amazing time! The room what just what we wanted, nice, clean and tidy, and we loved the prompt and friendly service from staff! In particular from staff member Marvin. He checked us in swiftly and was so friendly and helpful through our entire stay, and made everything nice and easy for us.

The hostel is nice and central and has good free car parking nearby too. We loved the events and games that Mint bar put on too ($2 tacos!!!)
We’d definitely stay again and recommended this hostel to anyone travelling through Wanaka, solo or in a couple!! 10/10!!!

The mint bar was the best part. Each night we went, we were greeted warmly by Benny who makes excellent drinks. He definitely has a passion for what he does.

Glad we had a bathroom in our room.

Kitchen was too small, we refused to cook in there.

I had an amazing stay here!
The staff were amazing and the rooms clean spacious and warm. Shout out to Turner who couldn't do enough to make sure I had an awesome stay.
I'd definitely recommend heading down to Mint Bar, the food was unreal and the drinks were a great price. I'll be back for sure 🤙
