Worst place ever, the police is everyday there, because somebody is stolen everyday inside the hostel, some cell phone or wallet disappear, other day a car was stolen, staff very rude, they're always arguing with the guests

Stayed here some time ago. The price was very very cheap and close to LAX but the place was extremely odd and unsafe. Went to the restaurant on site for a quick late dinner and a man came in and threatened staff with a knife. Had a stand-off with the chef. Thankfully no one was injured. I was staying in the back building, the entry to which was flooded. It was a large shared women's dorm, a lot of the women there were very old and appeared to be living in the hostel. The shared bathroom had no door or curtain in front of the showers?! There was nowhere to change in private.

The front desk customer service was a bit unenthusiastic but hey, that's fine. They were very knowledgeable and patient with me! They checked me in quickly and explained how to get to my room. My room is beyond clean, it's immaculate! It smells superb and clean and has cool zebra print bedding to boot!! The atmosphere is very relaxed and I know I'll enjoy my stay here! Thanks Backpacker's Paradise!

If you're not looking for something fancy but rather something reasonably close to the airport this place is awesome! I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. They also were super booked and because of that they upgraded me to a little cottage which was really nice. Parking is a bit of a challenge. But proximity to the airport is awesome. I highly recommend it if you're on a budget and don't need a luxurious place to stay. It's definitely unique and not for and some may indeed considered a bit funky, but I found it to be interesting and well priced.

I booked this hostel in a last minute panic after some plans fell through, and was more than a little nervous due to the negative reviews. Frankly, you're getting what you pay for. It is cheap and close to LAX, with a pharmacy, convenience store, gas station and fast food all within walking distance. It isn't incredible, but it isn't awful.
Just about everyone I spoke to was just another friendly traveler looking to save a few bucks. If you're a lonely solo traveler (like I was) just sit by the pool and try to look friendly. You'll make some friends quickly.
The front desk staff were a little unenthusiastic and one even forgot to give me my room key when checking me in, but it was easily fixed by popping back in a minute later.
The area is a bit dodgy and as a very short, petite female I wouldn't have felt safe going out at night so I just made sure to get my shopping and outings done during the day.
But I did enjoy staying here. Overall, just know that you're paying for a cheap place to sleep. Not everything is going to be perfect and if you're wanting something nicer, perhaps cough up a little extra for a nicer place to stay.
